Stage lighting can be a valuable asset when you're trying to create some fun atmosphere for your large group program, but professional grade lighting systems can be expensive. I like the simple solution one church came up with for their youth worship room - track lighting. It's not nearly as expensive and much easier to install. If you can't afford a full lighting package, this might be a creative first step to getting some lights on your teaching area.
Remember, though, this is a bell and whistle and not an essential. It's no substitute for a kid-geared, God-focused lesson and a storyteller who's put in the hard work of memorizing and rehearsing. If you've done the work, though, even simple stage lighting like this can really enhance your presentation and help you bring the Bible to life in a kid's imagination.
